1983

First Domino’s store in Australia opens in Springwood, Queensland.

1994

Silvio’s Dial-A-Pizza takes management control of Domino’s, eventually re-branding as Domino’s Pizza Australia Pty Ltd (later DPE). All Silvio's Dial-A-Pizza outlets are converted to Domino’s in 1995. By 1998, store numbers reach 136.

1996

1996 Domino’s introduces its iconic slogan “I’ve got the hots for what’s in the box with the dots!”

2000

Domino’s launches the Hot Cell – Australia’s first electronic hot bag.

2002

Don Meij becomes Domino’s Pizza Australia Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following the merger of his stores with those of fellow franchisee Grant Bourke. Total store count: 178.

2003

Domino’s expands into its first market outside Australia, opening four new stores in New Zealand.

2005

Domino’s lists on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX: DMP) becoming the country’s first publicly listed pizza company. Total network store count: 375.

2006

Domino’s purchases the master franchise rights for France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.  Domino’s Pizza Australia New Zealand Limited changes its name to Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Limited (DPE).

 

2009

DPE develops the world’s first ever mobile pizza ordering app.

 

2013

DPE acquires a 75% stake of Domino’s Pizza Japan, moving to 100% ownership in 2017. Total network store count: 1,255.

2015

DPE acquires the Pizza Sprint chain of pizza stores in France (+ 89 stores).

In a joint venture with Domino’s Pizza Group (DPG), DPE also acquires the Joey’s Pizza chain of pizza stores in Germany (+212 stores) plus 15 DPG stores.

2016

DPE makes history after completing the world’s first pizza delivery by drone in Whangaparaoa, New Zealand.

2017

DPE purchases Hallo Pizza GmbH in Germany (+170 stores).

2018

Through a joint arrangement with DPG, DPE secures the Master Franchise Agreement for Luxembourg.

In July, the Domino’s Groningen Floresstraat store in the Netherlands sets a new world record for fastest average delivery time of 3 minutes and 36 seconds. In November, the Domino’s Yotsuya store in Japan sets it again with an average delivery time of 2 minutes and 38 seconds for an entire week.

2019

DPE acquires the Master Franchise rights for Denmark.

Belgium opens its 100th store.

DPE launches DOM Pizza Checker - a smart scanner located above the cut bench that uses artificial intelligence to check the quality of every pizza.

2020

DPE stores donate more than 220,000 pizzas to frontline workers during the Covid-19 pandemic and ANZ stores launch the Feed the Knead program to provide support with free pizza to those in ‘knead’ in the community.

2021

DPE opens its 3,000th store – in Dresden, Germany.

Domino’s Netherlands sets a new world record with all orders in the market for an entire week delivered in an average of 17 minutes and 19 seconds.

DPE acquires 100% of PizzaVest Company Limited, the operator of Domino’s Taiwan (+157 stores).

2022

DPE enters into binding agreements with Mikenwill (M) Sdn Bhd, Impress Foods Pte Ltd and minority shareholders to acquire 100% interests in the Domino’s Pizza businesses in Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia (+287 stores).

DPE’s first ever global Domino’s Discovery Centre opens at the Hamilton, Brisbane store.

2023

Japan opens its 1000th Domino’s store - at the Koto Furuishiba store in Tokyo.

DPE becomes the first quick service restaurant (QSR) chain to have its science- based environmental targets validated, with the company committing to Net Zero emissions by 2050.

DPE exits the Danish market (-27 stores). Total network store count: 3,807.

2024

Don Meij retires from DPE. Mark van Dyck appointed as Domino’s Group CEO and Managing Director.
